  3. It was an excellent World Cup. The fact that we had a new winner after 12 years was a minor triumph in itself. This kept ODI cricket alive and more importantly demonstrated its charm and significance as the premier One Day Format. The idea of quarter finals as opposed to super eights was interesting and debatable but from an entertainment perspective it added to the excitement and unexpected drama. However, from a cricketing perspective I do feel that super eights should be used in order so stretch and challenge the best teams on a more consistent basis as opposed to just delivering on the day. All hosting nations put on a good show and should be proud of their efforts. It was great fun and the best World Cup ever! Many unforgettable moments, performances and memories as always. 2011 CWC take a bow.

  4. Congratulations to Shahid Khan Afridi for being named in the team of the tournament. The only Pakistani cricketer to find his name in the overall tournament team. The link is posted in the 2nd comment for the full team.

  5. And from an Indian fan, well played to Pakistan too!

Afridi did a fine job as captain. And was most gracious off the field before, during and after the game. Although most of us are extremely disappointed with his volte-face on Sunday.

Anyway, Pakistan retains an abundance of cricketing talent, as shown by newer guys like Riaz, Hafeez, Shafiq. And of course Umar Akmal remains a bright light. So subcontinent cricket remains in pretty good health!
